Enter your lawn size and we will show you how much to use and how many applications you will get.
Your liquid program is working. But there are gaps between applications.
You feed the lawn, it responds, then a few weeks later it starts to fade before the next application is due. The liquid products work fast at the leaf, but they don't hold a sustained nutritional base in the soil. Something needs to feed the lawn in the background, between the liquid passes, without the peaks and troughs.
That is what Density does.
What it does
A carbon-coated slow-release granular fertiliser formulated for Australian turf. Where Surge works fast at the leaf, Density works slowly and continuously at the soil and root layer, delivering a sustained feed of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium over 8 weeks from a single application. The carbon coating controls how quickly nitrogen releases, so instead of a fast flush that pushes soft growth and leaches away, you get steady feeding that holds the lawn between liquid applications.
Analysis: 25% Nitrogen (N), 2% Phosphorus (P), 11% Potassium (K), plus iron and manganese. The 25% nitrogen drives density and tiller production. The 11% potassium supports cell wall strength and drought tolerance. Iron and manganese address the micronutrient deficiencies that cause yellowing between liquid applications.
Application rate
2.5kg per 100m2. Apply using a broadcast spreader or by hand. Water in thoroughly after application to activate the release mechanism. Safe on all Australian turf varieties including couch, buffalo, kikuyu and zoysia.
Application schedule: February, April, August, October and December.
One 4kg bucket covers 160m2 per application.
What to expect
Weeks 1 to 2: Granules begin releasing nitrogen into the soil profile. No visible flush, that is by design.
Weeks 2 to 4: Steady colour improvement and tiller density building in the canopy.
Weeks 4 to 8: Consistent performance between liquid applications. The lawn holds condition rather than cycling between green and pale.
Application 2 and beyond: The compounding effect of sustained soil nutrition becomes visible. Lawns on a consistent Density and liquid program respond faster to each liquid application and hold results longer.
Why Density sits alongside the liquids
The liquid program is built for speed and precision at the leaf and root. But a foliar feed is consumed quickly. Without a sustained nutritional base in the soil, the lawn draws down what it has and then waits for the next application. Density fills that gap. The carbon-coated release means the soil always has nitrogen available, so the lawn never runs empty between passes. August in particular is a key window, the leaf is resting but the root zone is still active, and a Density application through winter builds the foundation the lawn draws on when it pushes growth in spring.
Complete the program
Density is the base layer beneath the liquid program. It works hardest when the soil and leaf layers are both being fed.

Frequently asked questions
Is Density a replacement for Surge?
No. They do different jobs. Density is a slow background feed from the soil up. Surge is a fast foliar feed at the leaf. They work best together, Density maintains sustained nutrition between applications, Surge delivers fast visible green-up on top.
Can I apply Density and my liquids on the same day?
Yes. Broadcast Density first, water it in, then apply your liquid products once the granules have settled. Or apply the liquids first and broadcast Density after. Both work.
How many buckets do I need?
One 4kg bucket covers 160m2 per application. A 300m2 lawn needs roughly 2 buckets per application. A 400m2 lawn needs roughly 2.5.
Should I apply Density in winter?
Yes. August is a scheduled application month. The leaf may not be actively growing but the root zone is still active and building. The August application is what separates lawns that explode in spring from those that take weeks to come back.
Will it burn my lawn?
Not when applied at the correct rate and watered in. The carbon coating controls the release rate and prevents the nitrogen flush that causes burning with standard granular products. Always water in thoroughly after application.
Is it safe for kids and pets?
Yes. Keep children and pets off the lawn until the granules have been watered in and the lawn is dry, typically 1 to 2 hours after watering.
