Title

The lawn was fine. Then patches started dying and pulling away like carpet.

You water, you feed, and the brown patches keep spreading. Birds are tearing at the lawn in the early morning. When you pull back a dying section, the roots are gone and there are white C-shaped grubs in the soil. By the time the damage is visible, the grubs are already large and feeding hard.

The fix is to treat before they get to that point.

What it does

A liquid insecticide containing 200g/L Chlorantraniliprole. Acelepryn controls lawn grubs and armyworm from a single application, with up to 6 months of residual protection at the higher rate. Once applied and watered in, it binds to the top 10 to 20mm of soil. Beetle larvae and grubs contact the active as they burrow and feed on roots. For armyworm, it releases a low dose into the turf over the following months, controlling caterpillars as they feed on the leaf. It is unscheduled, needs no protective equipment, and you can use the lawn again as soon as the spray dries.

Active constituent: 200g/L Chlorantraniliprole. Unscheduled, exempt from poison scheduling.

What it controls

Lawn curl grubs including African Black Beetle larvae, Argentinian Scarab larvae, Argentine Stem Weevil larvae and Billbug larvae. Caterpillars including Lawn Armyworm, Black Cutworm and Sod Webworm.

Safe on all Australian turf varieties including buffalo, couch, kikuyu and zoysia.

Application rate

8 to 15ml per 100m2 in 5 to 10L of water, using a garden sprayer. Use the higher rate (15ml) for up to 6 months protection or high pest pressure. Use the lower rate (8ml) for standard preventative applications. Water in lightly immediately after application. If armyworm are present at the time of spraying, leave the product on the leaf for 24 hours before watering in.

Application timing: September for beetle larvae and grub prevention. March for armyworm and caterpillar control.

One 100ml bottle treats up to 660m2 at the standard rate.

What to expect

Days 2 to 3: Acelepryn binds to the soil profile. No visible activity at this stage.
Weeks 1 to 3: Existing grubs and larvae contacting the product die. Activity in affected areas slows and stops.
Months 1 to 6: Residual protection continues. New larvae contacting the soil zone are controlled before they can establish and cause damage.
Seasons 2 and beyond: Lawns on a consistent September preventative schedule consistently outperform untreated lawns through the grub season.

Why preventative beats reactive

By the time grub damage is visible, the larvae are already late instar, larger, feeding hard, and much harder to control. Acelepryn delivers its best results applied preventatively, before grubs reach that stage. A September application targets African Black Beetle before peak egg hatch. This is the difference between a lawn that comes through the grub season unscathed and one that needs renovating in autumn.

Complete the program

Acelepryn protects the lawn from pests. If grubs have already caused damage, the Recovery Pack rebuilds the root zone they destroyed.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to see grubs before applying?
No. Acelepryn works best applied preventatively, before grubs are visible. By the time you see damage, late instar larvae are already present and harder to control. Apply in September before peak egg hatch for African Black Beetle.

Is Acelepryn safe on buffalo grass?
Yes. Acelepryn is registered for all Australian turf varieties including all buffalo varieties, couch, kikuyu and zoysia.

Can children and pets access the lawn after application?
Yes. Acelepryn is unscheduled and exempt from poison scheduling. Re-entry is permitted as soon as the spray has dried. No PPE is required to apply it.

How much product do I need?
At the 15ml per 100m2 rate, one 100ml bottle treats approximately 660m2. For a standard suburban lawn of 300 to 400m2, one bottle covers a full application with product to spare.

Can I apply Acelepryn and my liquid products on the same day?
Yes. Apply Acelepryn first and water it in, then apply your liquid program once the surface is dry. Do not tank-mix Acelepryn with other products.

How do I know if I have grubs?
Pull back a section of turf in a damaged area and check the soil beneath. Grubs are white to cream coloured C-shaped larvae, 10 to 30mm long. African Black Beetle adults appear around outdoor lights on summer evenings. Armyworm damage shows as fast-moving bare patches in late summer, often with birds feeding heavily.

Will Acelepryn fix damage grubs have already caused?
It stops the grubs causing further damage but cannot reverse existing turf loss. Once the pest is controlled, use the Recovery Pack to rebuild the root zone and bring the lawn back.
